Notes |
- Sons of James Hanson
My g.g.grandfather John Hanson b. 1803 settled in Cherokee County, Alabama after his move from Clarke County, Georgia. His brothers Tapley and Silas can be found on census records in Cherokee, Cleburne, and Calhoun Counties in Alabama. These counties border Georgia near Floyd and Polk Counties, and Tapley's descendants can be found on census records in both Floyd, GA and Cherokee, AL around Forney. Silas Hanson's descendants can be found in Cherokee, Cleburne, and Calhoun counties in Alabama, and later in St. Clair County in Pell City. My mother's aunt Senia (granddaughter of John) married John Thackerson Hanson, (Grandson of Silas). Senia's father was also John H. Hanson, so be careful to look at specific dates of birth, and middle initials when you can find them.
Their brother James Hanson (possibly "James Armstead Hanson") inherited their father's land from the Cherokee Land Lottery in Carroll County, Georgia, but has yet to be found on any census for that area by the name "James". Armstead Hanson b. abt 1796 in Virginia fits the bill, and did settle in that area as seen on 1850 census record, and his children settled in the area, as well as across the Alabama Line in Ranburne.
