      Henry Newsom (1791 - 1860)

Henry Newsom (1791 - 1860) was the son of John and Sarah Harp Newsom. (His will is on the Bibb Co. Ga. web site) I don't know if he was born in Warren County, Georgia or not but he was there in 1820 census and came to Bibb County before the 1830 census. He married Elizabeth Potts, daughter of S. M. Potts , who was supposedly a Creek or Cherokee Indian, depending on who you hear this from.. Henry had a brother, Gideon Newsom, who lived at one time in Taylor County, Georgia. His other siblings were, Penelope who married a Hinton, Silas, John, Jincy and Moses.

Children of Henry and Elizabeth Potts Newsom were : William P/B Newsom -m- Louisa Petty John Newsom -m- Catherine McCardle Mary A. Newsom -m- William C. Lawshe James Newsom -m- Emily Bickley Elizabeth Newsom -m- Ira Jennings Martha M. Newsom ?m-Robert Barfield Caroline Newsom -m- Dr. Benjamin Franklin Bonner Madison Newsom -m-
Sarah Elizabeth Hamlin Espy R. Newsom - d. at age 15

John and Catherine moved to Texas and one of their children, Charles and his wife had sixty
      seven grandchildren.

James and his wife also moved to Texas but I believe they are buried in Louisiana.

Henry married Elizabeth Long Whittington after his first wife died and they had one daughter,
      Laura Newsom.

Henry and Elizabeth and some of their children are buried at Mt. Paran Church in Crawford
      County, georgia.

I do have many descendants of Henry and Elizabeth Potts Newsom's children and also some
of the descendants of Henry and Elizabeth Long Whittington Newsom's daughter if anyone is
      interested.
